Telford Transport Solutions to flooded cafe’s rescue!

TTS has always taken its role within the local community seriously, with the view that by putting something back, you’re building a stronger and happier environment in which to live and work.

This is of course to the good of both the public and local commercial enterprises.

Whilst we are all extremely worried about Covid-19, some areas across the UK have already had their fair share of troubles this year!

Extreme weather conditions caused mass flooding in Ironbridge

During the first two months of 2020, we saw the wettest Winter on record, with Ironbridge amongst other Shropshire towns, being flooded no fewer than three times.

For businesses located on or near to the wharfage in Ironbridge, the last few months have been challenging times to say the very least. The floods caused huge losses and disruption to these business, with stock damage to many premises, along with a costly and lengthy clear up operation, further impacting on sales and profitability.

Flood defences in Ironbridge were tested to their limit!

Dales End Café was one such business and the last flood saw it submerged in over 1.5 metres of the River Severn’s muddiest water. If this wasn’t bad enough, the café had also been informed by their insurance company that after previous flooding, they would no longer be covered for any damage relating to the water table.

Jason Woolley, Telford Transport Solutions’ MD and a new resident to Ironbridge was, with the help of his business partner Daniel Hollran, able to throw Dale End Café a lifeline.

It just so happened that in storage, TTS had a catering trailer! Refurbished to full functionality some years earlier, Jason and Daniel had hoped to use it at various events although due to being so busy with TTS and other commitments, this had never transpired.

As long as TTS has space, they will store virtually anything!

TTS were delighted to be able to offer help and supply the trailer free of charge to Dale End Café, which is currently located adjacent to their stricken premises.

TTS’s kind gesture was both overwhelming and a ‘life line’ since it allows us to continue to operate whilst we dry out and re-fit our premises.”

“In times like these we all need to stick together and think outside the box and we are obviously thinking of ways we can help businesses survive the Coronavirus too!”
